Interviewer: Did you have pocket money and did you go to the shops on Wey Hill?
Interviewee: Yes, I did have pocket money.
Interviewer: There were shops down your way as well weren’t there?
Interviewee: Glovers, there was Harding, which was at Shottermill Bridge. I think there was Critchmere Stores but for some reason we never probably used to go there, we used to go to Harding.
Interviewer: What was Hardings like?
Interviewee: Post Office, it was a Post Office, just like a corner shop, lots of bits of food that sort of thing. It was a family, run by the Hardings, so it was a family concern. Glovers of course in Wey Hill, where you always rented your television from. Dear old Mr. Glover, he had a great big, white Jaguar, he was a very successful business there which unfortunately went downhill after he died. I remember him winning an enormous amount of money on the Pools, he wealthiest man in the area and he won the money on the Pools!
