Interviewer: With your parents’ business, your Dad presumably came back from the War, did he?
Interviewee: He came back from the War, about 1945-46. I can’t remember when he actually came back, when he was demobbed from the army. He carried on the shop till 1963, which is when I went in. Initially, having done prep school I went to public school, hated that too, then I trained as an accountant. I decided accountancy wasn’t for me and at that time, in 63, Dad was quite ill and I thought ’I’ll run the business’ which I took over in 63.
Interviewer: What was that like going into your family’s business? Did you slot in easily?
Interviewee: Slotted in very easily.
Interviewer: You knew the ropes I suppose?
Interviewee: Yeah, I enjoyed it immensely.
