Interviwee: We had probably one, two, three, four grocer shops that I can think of. ’Partners’, ’Burgesses’… there must have been four I think – one along Lower Street. ’Partners’ was where Woolworths was and then there was the ’International Stores’ where the pet shop is. Then there was ’Bergers’ and one in West Street. You had a choice of where you wanted to buy your goods. And one, two, three butchers. Greengrocers, which we don’t possess now, we had several. That’s something one misses. I mean we really were very well supplied with. You didn’t need to go anywhere else.
